
In line with its commitment to community development and transformative education, Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) successfully conducted a community outreach program titled “Innovative Teaching Strategies for Barangay Daycare Teachers in San Jorge, Samar” on May 30, 2025, at the San Jorge Municipal Covered Court.
Spearheaded by the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) faculty of the NwSSU–San Jorge Campus and supported by BEED students, the event aimed to equip local daycare teachers with innovative and developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to enhance the quality of early childhood education in the municipality.






The program began with the registration of participants, followed by an opening prayer and the playing of the Philippine National Anthem. The heart of the program featured a series of dynamic lectures and hands-on sessions covering a wide range of topics crucial to child development. Expert speakers and student facilitators shared best practices and strategies on:
- Physical and Cognitive Development
- Socio-Emotional Skills
- Language Development
- Health, Nutrition, and Safety
- Values Education and Social Skills
- Family and Community Engagement
- Science and Sensory Learning
Participants actively engaged in games, group activities, storytelling, and interactive exercises that emphasized child-centered, play-based teaching approaches.
