On March 24, 2025, the Junior Criminologist Association of the Philippines (JCAP) – NwSSU San Jorge Campus Chapter successfully conducted a fire drill at the campus Covered Court in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The event aimed to enhance fire safety awareness and preparedness among students, faculty, and staff.
Mr. Romel E. Machubar, JCAP External Adviser, formally opened the program by welcoming the BFP officers and emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in fire prevention. The event carried the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa”, underscoring that fire safety is not solely an individual concern but a shared duty among families, institutions, and communities.

The program’s highlight was a presentation by Mr. Mateo O. Bentillo Jr., a guest speaker from BFP San Jorge. He discussed essential fire prevention topics, including the different classes of fire and proper response strategies. Following the lecture, participants engaged in a hands-on demonstration of the correct use of fire extinguishers. Mr. Bentillo, along with other BFP officers, guided students, faculty, and staff through a practical exercise on extinguishing fires, ensuring they gained firsthand experience in fire suppression techniques.
The event served as a valuable learning opportunity, reinforcing the significance of fire safety measures and emergency preparedness within the university community. The NwSSU San Jorge Campus extends its gratitude to the BFP for its expertise and dedication to promoting fire prevention awareness.
