Brgy. Rosalim, San Jorge, Samar โ€“ October 11, 2025 โ€” The Northwest Samar State Universityโ€“San Jorge Campus (NWSSU-SJC) brought its commitment to community development to the fields of Brgy. Rosalim through the Uniting Sustainable Ways for Agriculture Growth or USWAG Outreach Program.

Spearheaded by Ms. Emily V. Lamo, project leader and NWSSU extensionist, the one-day activity featured lectures and demonstrations on organic and sustainable farming practices. Faculty members from the BSA and BAT programs served as resource speakers, sharing practical techniques on making fermented fruit and plant juices, oriental herbal nutrients, aloe vera and acid cheese whey, as well as strategies like minimal tillage and vermi composting.

The event was actively participated in by members of the Rosalim Agrarian Reform Cooperative, who engaged in the discussions and hands-on sessions aimed at enhancing their agricultural knowledge and skills.

Selected BSA 1 students, together with officers from SOSA and ATEO, took part as facilitators, assisting in the smooth flow of the program and working closely with the farmers throughout the activity.

The outreach sought to empower the farming community of Brgy. Rosalim by introducing innovative yet practical agricultural methodsโ€”an effort that reflects NWSSUโ€™s continued mission to promote sustainability and strengthen its partnership with local communities.
